Dredging continues despite crew injury

Dave Bergen reports that unfortunately one member of the dredge crew has been seriously injured. He has undergone surgery and Dave’s understanding is that he should be out of hospital by Christmas. Despite this, the dredging rig is back in town, and started work on Jockey Creek on Friday December 21st.
“It appears that they will try to do an additional couple of creeks in Southold before heading back over to the south shore. I will keep you posted on these locations as they are finalized. The equipment is also experiencing some breakdowns which is understandable given the weather conditions and that they have been operating from dawn till dusk, six days a week. But the men on the rig and those in the office continue to do what they can to open up creeks on the East End.
The Southold Trustees want to wish everyone Happy Holidays.”

The Trustees are pleased to report that the crew finished up with Jockey Creek Spur and headed over to Goose Creek. This will be a significant project as it has not been dredged in years. The expectation is that the crew will be there for about a week.
With the dredging window closing in less then a month, I am still working very hard on getting at least one more Southold location done this year. I will keep you posted.
