John Kramer
John Kramer, Past Chair, Interim Treasurer: Born and raised in Southold, John Kramer began rowing and sailing home built crafts in Town Creek at age 8. After the Army and college and a few years in the life insurance business, he started a general insurance agency in Southold with a partner, then sold his interest and retired in 2007. John Kramer’s idea of an organization to help involve those who live on the water in the discussions and regulations about the creeks and bays and beaches was born from his seeing so many second home owners come to Southold only to be entrapped in battles with agencies and departments of the local government for the lack of knowing the rules and procedures.

Fran Sladkus
Fran Sladkus, Company Secretary: Fran Sladkus, a retired arbitrageur and former Vice-President of an international commercial bank, has, with her husband, been a bayside resident of Laurel for eleven years. She was spurred to join Southold VOICE after witnessing the complete destruction of her neighbor’s bulkhead during a Nor’easter; the resulting erosion of the property seriously threatened the viability of the house. This hugely expensive calamity was a direct result of a permit process that, in this case, took two years. She believes in a calm, measured approach to the challenges that face waterfront homeowners, but feels strongly about finding avenues to increase cooperation between waterfront homeowners and the town, the trustees, the DEC and the Army Corps of Engineers by reaching out to fellow residents who share the common goals of SoutholdVOICE.
