Moorings in Richmond Creek

John Kramer took a ride with a SoutholdVOICE member who wanted to show him the situation in Richmond Creek. He, too, has been on the list for a permit to moor his boat for 8 years, just like the man he wrote about last month. The mooring area in Richmond Creek is a deep oval near the end of the entrance channel, big enough to moor at least 6 and maybe 8 boats. John Kramer’s attention was directed to the Mattituck Inlet Marina and Shipyard, MIMS, zone change application for their 33+ upland acres recently. Despite the Group for the East End depicting the project as “Acres of Mining & Massive Marina heading for Mattituck Creek”, he arranged to meet Jim Pape, the person in charge at MIMS and got a look at what is being proposed. The Dock moratorium expired again on Feb. 19 and the Planning Board Office has put out a one page standard for the construction of docks in Peconic Bay and Gardiners Bay. John Kramer FOILED the map overlays and we now have them on this site.
