Meet the Candidates 2009 Q&A

your time to chose

your time to chose

As we have previously done, SoutholdVOICE submitted questions relating to waterfront issues to all candidates running for Southold Town Board and Trustee positions in the forthcoming November elections. This year, for Southold Town election coverage 2009, we submitted 7 specific questions with a deadline for responses, so that no candidate would have the advantage of seeing another candidate response before giving their own. Over the next few days, we will be publishing these questions with a side by side comparison of the candidate responses we have received, to help you decide who best represents your interests.

Members are welcome to post their own comments using the comment box below the various Q & A pages that will follow. Additional questions may also be asked using the forum, but please wait until all our questions have been published in case the topic has already been covered. Feel free to address candidates collectively or individually.

Candidates themselves are invited to post on this website also, to clarify their positions and in response to member comments. The purpose of this exercise is to help SoutholdVOICE members know where each candidate stands on an any issue affecting them, and before casting their votes in November.

The Board of SoutholdVOICE would like to thank all candidates for their time in answering our questions.

First, before we publish the Q&A, here’s a copy of the letter that all candidates received a couple of weeks ago, and a quick introduction to the candidates, some of whom you may not know very well:

September 23, 2009

Dear Candidate:

As you may know, SoutholdVOICE is a non-profit organization of waterfront property owners and other marine resources stakeholders. Our members are very interested in knowing your positions relating to waterfront issues affecting them.

For informational purposes, we would very much appreciate your answering the enclosed questions. This letter is being sent to every candidate running for a Town Board or Trustee position, and we will publish answers from all candidates on October 13th on our website at www.SoutholdVOICE.com and in our October Newsletter. Our members will then have the opportunity to add their own comments to your responses.

We will not edit or comment on candidate statements we receive; our role is simply to publish your views in the way you wish to present them to our members and the general public.

If you would like your picture attached to your response, please email a photo to southoldvoice@gmail.com.

If you choose not to respond to this request, in fairness, that also will be noted on our website and in our October newsletter.

Please return your answers on or before Saturday, October 10th, email to southoldvoice@gmail.com, fax to 1-866-356-9203, or mail to our PO Box 996, Southold, NY 11971

Thank you for your time; we look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

The Board of Directors

SoutholdVOICE, Inc.
