What Barge Bash?
For the avoidance of doubt, SoutholdVOICE has no connection with any Barge Bash event on Peconic Bay this Saturday or at any other time and does not endorse any such event or have any opinion about it.
SoutholdVOICE had no prior knowledge of the event, has never been involved in it and is not now involved in any way. The first we heard of it was mention in today’s issue of the Suffolk Times Newspaper. Suffolk Times has made an error by naming this organization in connection with the event, for which we are now seeking an immediate apology and retraction.
The only event to which this organization is connected is the Sunset gathering at Touch of Venice next Friday August 21st, to which everyone is invited. Tickets are still available. Please do come, no boat required!
For the avoidance of doubt, when a resident of this town goes about their normal day to day business, it does not mean that every action they take is on behalf of an organization to which they also happen to belong, even if that person is an officer, or if that action happens to catch press attention.
SoutholdVOICE appreciates the contributions Suffolk Times makes in our community, but expects all journalists to report affiliations appropriately when mentioning people who wear more than one hat. Mentioning SoutholdVOICE in connection with this event was not only inappropriate, it is damaging to the very good and positive impression our members have worked so hard to build for this organization.
